Founded in 1847 in Paris by Louis-François Cartier as a jewelry store, they designed watches and clocks which were then made for them by other manufacturers. As a son of the original founder, Louis Cartier created several designs for wristwatches which did much to establish the brand’s fame. The Santos and the Tank models, the former created in 1904 and the latter in 1917, were among the first and most iconic wristwatch designs ever produced. These were largely manufactured by the European Watch and Clock Co. (an early formation of Jaeger-LeCoultre). Later, Cartier watches would be made by Tavannes, Wittnauer, Longines, Universal, Patek Philippe, Movado, and ETA. The company remained under family control until 1964, and is currently owned by the Richemont Group.

Please note that all pictures are taken on the macro setting. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows during photography, and specks of dust appear much more prominent even though they are often not visible without magnification
This is the largest Tank model that Cartier makes
It is a combination of macho and sleek looks. This watch has a rectangular-shaped case that is made with 316L stainless steel, which is a very strong and resistant material that keeps water and moisture at bay and also protects the machinery inside from any external blow. The measurements of 31mm wide x 41mm long x 8mm thick bring robustness to the case. The Swiss self-winding mechanical movement with its caliber 1847 MC allows the watch to function meticulously. The dial is silvered opaline that displays sword-shaped blue steel hands that move to give you hours, minutes and seconds. Date display exhibits calendar in front of you that shows at 6 o’clock position.

Because older vintage wristwatches were made smaller than watches made today, men or women can wear this and would look fabulous on your wrist
Vintage watches are generating more interest over the last several years. They are added to collections and are being worn. These vintage watches are a bargain when you consider the cost of producing a comparable watch with a high grade movement. This is a very nice example of a vintage watch which would make a interesting example for any collection or just be fun to wear as your personal timepiece
Vintage watches may gain or lose a small amount of time per day as they do not keep quartz accuracy. Also, because most vintage watches being offered are between 30-70 years old, small imperfections, scratches, and wear are to be expected
A Word About Mechanical Watches: All mechanical watches, whether manual or automatic wind, will need periodic servicing simply due to the friction of its moving parts.
