Of all the watches that I collect and sell, this is perhaps the only firm that needs little introduction?having built its business over the last century on high quality, innovation and style. The Rolex Watch Co. of Switzerland, founded by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother in law Alfred Davis, would first establish his business in England (1908) before settling in Switzerland. By 1919, Wilsdorf had established the Manufacture des Montres Rolex, at a time when the movements were crafted in Bienne and the watches were hand-finished in Geneva. On average, more than 200 technicians are involved in producing a single Rolex wristwatch, quite remarkable
I am a Watch Collector as Well as a Buyer and Seller of New, Pre-Owned, Antique, and Vintage Watches
I only sell genuine, authentic, watches in "Good" to "Pristine" condition
The "Rare Bird" Rolex ref. 1630 was introduced a few years earlier than the Oysterquartz. A timeless and very "Gerald Genta" looking design that would later be adopted by the Rolex Oysterquartz. Between 400-1500 1630's were made in the 1970's. This is one of them.
Another difference — besides the obvious difference in movement and dial imprint that doesn't say Oysterquartz — between ref. 1630 and the Oysterquartz, is the presence of a flange with a minute track on the outer rim of the dial, and three rows of 18k solid gold links in the center of the bracelet instead of two rows.
Without a doubt, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust ref. 1630 is one of the most iconic watches of all time and a clear example of an era influenced by flat top cases and Gerald Genta, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, inspired designs. Long live the Rolex Ref. 1630
This is one of the nicest ref. 1630 Rolexes you will find......anywhere!
So few even know this watch exists

Men or women can wear this and would look fabulous on your wrist
Vintage watches are generating more interest over the last several years. They are added to collections and are being worn. These vintage watches are a bargain when you consider the cost of producing a comparable watch with a high grade movement. This is a very nice example of a vintage watch which would make a interesting example for any collection or just be fun to wear as your personal timepiece
Vintage watches may gain or lose a small amount of time per day as they do not keep quartz accuracy. Also, because most vintage watches being offered are between 30-70 years old, small imperfections, scratches, and wear are to be expected
A Word About Mechanical Watches: All mechanical watches, whether manual or automatic wind, will need periodic servicing simply due to the friction of its moving parts
All of our watches have been tested and serviced if needed. We time all watches for at least 48 hours prior to listing and 12 hours prior to shipment. If it doesn't maintain acceptable accuracy, or function properly, we won't ship it and the buyer will receive a refund
Water resistance is not guaranteed on vintage or pre-owned wristwatches. Have seals and gaskets checked by a watchmaker before submerging in water, swimming, or showering
