Elgin National Watch Company got its start in 1864 and was founded by a group of men that included former Chicago mayor Benjamin W. Raymond. For nearly 100 years thereafter, Elgin had the distinction of operating the world’s largest watchmaking manufacturing site. The company became an American icon and won numerous awards for its timepieces and movements. 1967 marked the last year that the original Elgin Watch Company produced any watches, and today the brand’s models are collector’s items

- Excellent - Items show signs of wear. Light surface scratches and possibly a few small dents or dings. Average condition considering the age of the item.
- Very Good - Items that have been worn regularly and have noticeable wear. Scratches, dents, and dings are more visible

This is a watch that reveals more details the more you look at it. It is a manual wind two handed dress watch with a delicately brushed dial with simple printing to go with the simple hands and indices. Inside is a a Swiss made caliber that is also elegant and beautiful. Unfortunately, I could never identify what make and caliber as the marks are under the hairspring and third wheel

This is a vintage used watch. It may have lived a life before you, so you should not expect it to be new and flawless. If you want a flawless new watch, please do not buy this. If you want a piece of history in the form of a nice vintage piece, with possibly a dated inscription on the case back, then this may be right for you. Because most vintage watches being offered are between 30-70 years old, small imperfections, scratches, and wear are to be expected
