Rolex Tudor Prince Oysterdate Vintage SS Mens Pre-Owned Swiss Watch 1990's..34mm

$1,689.00 USD

History of Tudor:

Formed in 1946 by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, Tudor was intended to be a brand providing more affordable watches that remained faithful to the high standards for which Rolex was renowned.

“For some years now I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standards of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the Tudor Watch Company.”

This was March 6, 1946 and Hans Wilsdorf, the author of these words is a leading figure in the world of Swiss watchmaking and distinguished for having created Rolex in the first decade of the 20th century. In this statement, he officially unveils not only Tudor, but also the positioning and communications strategy he has in mind for the brand.

His intuition was simple and well placed since at that time the wristwatch market was expanding along with its development. The public was also ready to recognize and appreciate a reasonably priced watch that not only had all the technical, aesthetic and functional characteristics but also had guaranteed distribution by a brand like Rolex, already known worldwide for the quality of its production.

This 1990's Tudor Prince Oysterdate Model #74000N breathes understated luxury. The plain SS bezel and 34mm Rolex oyster case make this watch blend in on the wrist and the silver dial has a different hue in every lighting situation. This particular watch is powered by the Tudor-finished ETA 2824-2, ticking away at 28,800 bph. Movement is clean, keeps excellent time and has excellent power reserve. I do not have service papers or a service history for this watch. However, it's been working flawlessly during my ownership.

The twinlock Rolex-signed crown engages easily and screws in firmly. The acrylic crystal has recently been polished, and is void of any scratches or swirls. The aftermarket bracelet is an oyster-style with solid screwed links and rivets! It is currently sized for a 6.75" wrist, and comes with extra screw links that will add 1.25". The rivet bracelet really gives it a more rugged, old school, look while retaining that elegance you get from owning a Tudor. And it is also very comfortable.

Vintage watches may gain or lose a small amount of time per day as they do not keep quartz accuracy. Also, because most vintage watches being offered are between 40-70 years old, small imperfections, scratches, and wear are to be expected

A Word About Mechanical Watches:  All mechanical watches, whether manual or automatic wind, will need periodic servicing simply due to the friction of its moving parts. All of our watches have been tested and serviced if needed. I time all watches for at least 24 hours prior to listing and 12 hours prior to shipment. If it doesn't maintain acceptable accuracy I don't list it or I won't ship it and the buyer will receive a refund

The accuracy of a mechanical watch depends on wrist movement, watch position, and frequency of winding and maintenance

Water resistance is not guaranteed on vintage or pre-owned wristwatches. Have seals and gaskets checked by a watchmaker before submerging in water, swimming, or showering
